Inclusive Initiative: Windsor Legion Launches Blind and Low-Vision Dart League
Peter Best and Sharron Jarvis of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 255 in Windsor, Ontario, have started a blind and low-vision dart league. Inspired by the realization that there were limited social activities for people with disabilities in their community, they wanted to create an inclusive environment where everyone could participate. Currently in its pilot phase and still in the organizational stages, the league is a wonderful initiative to support the community and bring new people into the Branch, fostering connection and camaraderie among members and the public of all abilities.

Branch 336 Ladies' Auxiliary
Branch 336 Ladies' Auxiliary: A Tradition of Service and Success
Branch 336 Ladies’ Auxiliary in Falconbridge, Ontario has been an integral part of their community for decades, supporting the Legion through fundraising efforts. Since 2010, they’ve been making their beloved meat pies, and their success speaks for itself!
Every year we get more organized and better prepared. With the increase in popularity, it became harder to find ways to freeze the pies all at once. We tried using oven racks and large pieces of cardboard held up by coffee mugs in the freezers. Now we have wooden racks for each freezer.
In 2020, the Auxiliary invested in a dough sheeter, allowing them to dramatically increase production. From 100 pies in 2010 to 2,500 in 2024, the demand continues to rise!
Thanks to their dedication, Legion Branch 336 Ladies Auxiliary has raised over $100,000, supporting Veterans, charities, and vital Legion maintenance. Their hard work and commitment are a true testament to the spirit of community!

The poem “In Flanders Fields” set against a background of poppies at sunset.
110th anniversary of “In Flanders Fields”
On May 3rd, 110 years ago, Canadian poet, surgeon, and soldier, Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae, wrote the iconic poem In Flanders Fields. After 17 days of treating the wounded during the Second Battle of Ypres, McCrae buried his close friend, Lieutenant Alexis Helmer. It was in that moment of deep sorrow and reflection that he wrote the poem, which would later inspire the Poppy as a symbol of Remembrance.
Today, from the last Friday in October to Remembrance Day, millions of Canadians wear a Poppy as a visual pledge to never forget those who fought and died for our freedoms.

Honouring 80th Anniversaries of Second World War Milestones
This year marks the 80th anniversary of several pivotal moments from the Second World War, and we proudly reflect on Canada's vital role in these milestones.
Every year, the first Sunday in May is recognized by Canadians as a day to honour the sacrifices made by thousands of Canadian soldiers during the Battle of the Atlantic. In 1945, Canadian forces played a decisive role in securing vital supply lines across the Atlantic, ensuring victory for the Allies. This battle remains a testament to Canada's resilience and determination.
On May 5th, we commemorate the Liberation of Netherlands marking the day when the remaining German forces in the country officially surrendered in 1945. Canadian troops were instrumental in the liberation of the Dutch people, and their courage continues to be a source of national pride.
Finally, on May 8th, we remember Victory in Europe Day (V-E Day), the day when Nazi Germany officially surrendered, bringing the war in Europe to an end. Canada's contributions to this victory and the liberation of Europe will forever remind us of the bravery and dedication of those who fought for peace and freedom.
Commemorate and promote the 80th anniversary of V-E Day with these items at the Poppy Store. Proceeds from your purchase help the Legion honour, support and advocate for Canada’s Veterans.
